As we celebrate the 21st Abbeyhill Colony of Artists festival, we reflect on the creativity, collaboration and community that have shaped it over the years. Born from a belief that art should live where people live, the festival continues to bring creativity into the heart of Abbeyhill.
Since 2005, homes, gardens, studios and unexpected corners of the neighbourhood have become places of creativity, conversation and discovery. What began as a small community event has grown into a much-loved festival, while never losing the spirit that made it special.
This year, we also remember our friend Brian McFeely (Elph), whose generosity, creativity and encouragement left a lasting mark on our community. His work with us on the Lothian Cat Rescue mural reminds us that the greatest art often comes from bringing people together.
To everyone who has exhibited, hosted, volunteered, sponsored, visited or simply spread the word—thank you. You are what makes this festival possible.
