Karl Macrae is a queer, contemporary, design-led embroidery artist whose work pushes the boundaries of traditional techniques. Originally trained as a traditional folk musician, and teacher, Karl lived with CPTSD and depression and found that creativity and sense of self had become deeply disconnected. Through art making, he has rebuilt both his practice and his confidence and now works full-time from his studio at Perth Creative Exchange.
