VENUE 55 -William Mazur, 16 Carlyle Place
Acrylic on Canvas
Bill Mazur has been a resident of the Abbeyhill Colonies since 1996 and is a founding member of the Colony of Artists. Since 2008, he has played a key role in organising the annual exhibition, helping shape it into the vibrant community celebration it is today.
Working primarily in watercolour and acrylic, Bill’s paintings are inspired by the natural world — particularly the shifting light, atmosphere, and seasonal rhythms of the Scottish and French countryside. His work captures subtle changes in landscape and mood, inviting quiet reflection and a deeper appreciation of place.
Outside the studio, Bill is a familiar presence in the neighbourhood — often seen in his overalls, brush in hand, bringing colour to unexpected corners. As lead artist with the Murally People, the Colony of Artists’ community mural project, he helps integrate art into the fabric of daily life, transforming local shops and gable ends into shared creative spaces.
