Dawn Chapman (albadawnart) is an artist working across printmaking and silk painting. Her practice includes lino printing, silk screen printing, and the creation of painted silk works, with much of her inspiration drawn from nature and the landscapes of her local area.
Dawn is fascinated by the way the processes of making actively shape the finished artwork. In both silk painting and printmaking, she embraces the unexpected qualities of the materials — the movement and flow of ink across silk, the textures created through layering, and the way the printmaking process itself helps to inform and influence the final image.
Her work reflects a close connection with the natural world, combining careful observation with an appreciation of the unique dialogue between artist, materials, and process.
