THE SINGING STREET 75TH ANNIVERSARY

SCREENING & TALK

When: Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th September, 10am – 11am

Venue: Abbeyhill Primary School, Abbey Street

The Singing Street is a much loved short amateur film made by a trio of teachers at Norton Park Junior Secondary. For a cast they turned to their schoolgirl pupils plus a fe reluctant boys for a film set they used the streets and pavements of Edinburgh; and for their subject matter they captured the songs, games and rhymes that once echoed through Edinburgh's streets.

Beautifully restored in high definition, this rare screening of the minute film offers a fascinating glimpse of childhood on the streets of 1950s Edinburgh.

The screening will be followed by a 30 minute talk from local historian Andy rthur of Threadinburgh, exploring the story behind the film, its makers and the Edinburgh it so vividly preserves.
